Man Fatally Shot In San Diego; Suspect At Large

The victim, who was in his 30s, was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was fatally shot early Monday in San Diego's Linda Vista neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers responded at 12:45 a.m. Monday to reports of gunshots near the Linda Vista Recreation Center at 7064 Levant St., according to the San Diego Police Department.

Police said they found a man lying in the park suffering from at least one gunshot wound. They began lifesaving measures until paramedics with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department arrived.

The victim, who was in his 30s, was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.

Investigators believe that the suspect, described as a heavy-set Latin man, approached the victim in the park and shot him. A motive for the shooting has not yet been confirmed, and no arrests have been made, according to the department.
