- HHSA Public Health Services and the Boys and Girls Club officials in National City are working together to notify those who may have been exposed to tuberculosis (TB). The exposure timeline includes May 28-Nov. 8, 2022. For those who were exposed, testing will be provided free of charge. Tuberculosis is a serious disease that affects breathing but can be cured with proper treatment. Call Boys and Girls Club National City at (619) 452-1859, or San Diego County TB Control Program at (619) 692-8621 to get tested. (County News Center)
- The old Central Library in downtown San Diego sat empty for more than 10 years. Now, it's revitalized as a 36-bed shelter for women. It will be run by the National Alliance for Mental Illness under contract with the city’s Homeless Strategies and Solutions. It was funded by a Capital Emergency Solutions grant from the county, as well as an Encampment Resolution grant awarded by the state. The ultimate goal is to get people off the street, into temporary shelters, and finally back on their own feet and into permanent housing. (NBC San Diego)
- It's not just a job — It's a career! That's how Human Resources Field Manager Carol Capone explains it. Working for the USPS is different from working for other delivery services. It does not hire seasonal employees. The Post Office is looking for 300 people here in San Diego who want to work with the USPS until retirement. Starting salaries begin at $21 per hour and postal jobs provide comprehensive benefits and pensions. For more information click here. (NBC San Diego)
- February is FREE for Seniors 65+ at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
