Here are four of the top stories in San Diego today:

  1. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria met with federal officials in Washington to discuss issues affecting San Diego. He spoke at the National Housing Conference. He met with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to discuss migration and the lifting of Title 42. He spoke with the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, Dr. Rahul Gupta, about the fentanyl crisis, and asked that fentanyl be listed as a Schedule 1 drug. While in Washington, he also met with Administration officials and several Congressional leaders. (KPBS)
  2. We’ve all been warned: Cyber criminals are out there, ready to trick us into parting with our money. Now, the City of San Diego has a new weapon in the war against cyber-criminals. It’s the San Diego Regional Cyber Lab, and it will teach us how to combat cyber-crime. Hospitals, school districts, businesses and nonprofits have been hacked, as well as many residents here. How big a problem is it, really? More than 2,000 cyber-attacks occur per week. (NBC San Diego)
  3. Here in San Diego, cases of influenza have greatly increased over the past year, and are expected to increase. Yet, fewer people are opting for a flu shot. Dr. Seema Shah, County Medical Director for Epidemiology and Immunization, is worried by the trend. How many people have been hit by flu here? So far, the county has seen 12,945 flu cases, an increase of 2,953 percent. (NBC San Diego)
  4. Score one for the good guys! A 79-year-old man defended himself and his 60-year-old wife, when a younger man attempted to steal one of his goats. The homeowner grabbed his rifle and, after a scuffle, shot the intruder, who was then taken to the hospital. The homeowner was also injured. The 36-year-old wannabe goat-napper was later arrested on charges of robbery, elder abuse, attempted vehicle theft, residential burglary, animal cruelty and battery. (NBC San Diego)

Are you a San Diego resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market? Consider fine art. Masterworks is the award-winning platform helping 575,000+ invest in works by the same world-renowned artists that are coveted by ultra-wealthy collectors and major museums alike (think Picasso, Basquiat, and Banksy.) Masterworks splits these multi-million dollar works into shares, so you can invest without breaking the bank.

Contemporary art has outpaced the stock market by a whopping 131% over the last 26 years. Seven of Masterworks’ eight sold paintings gave their investors a +17.8% net returns*.
