- Need help? San Diego County has launched 988, a new health care crisis line serving those experiencing a mental health crisis, a substance use crisis, or a suicide crisis. “Anyone struggling with a substance use, or mental health issue, such as depression, anxiety, suicide, loss, or anger, can call the Access and Crisis Line to speak to a representative,” said Dr. Luke Bergmann, director of Behavioral Health Services at the County Health and Human Services Agency. “ACL clinicians are trained to respond to behavioral health-related questions and crisis situations and can provide compassionate and knowledgeable support to callers.” The 988-dialing code does not replace the Access and Crisis Line, which is already a partner of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. - San Diego County has entered the red zone, the high transmission zone for COVID-19 cases. Now, with the San Diego Pride Parade and other Pride events taking place this weekend, and with Comic-Con beginning on Thursday, there is concern about a steep spike in the number of cases and hospitalizations. “We have a lot of exciting things going on, and we’re not telling people not to have fun,” said Dr. Ghazala Sharieff, chief medical officer for acute care operations at Scripps Health. “That’s the last thing we want to tell people after 2 1/2 years of being in this phase. We are just asking for extra caution. Do what you want to do in a safe way.” Pride events are outdoors, and masks are not required. However, Comic-Con requires masks and proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (FOX 5 San Diego)
