Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation Launches $900K Improvement Project

"I am extremely proud that we are able to make this project become a reality for the San Diego community."

SAN DIEGO, CA — The Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation launched a $900,000 project Wednesday to improve the Memorial Amphitheater at the San Diego military cemetery.

The project, which is expected to take about three months, is the largest project in the 19-year history of the foundation.

The project will provide ADA walkways, permanent guest seating and new landscaping at the flag assembly area. The upgrades will include 500 seats for guests attending large-scale events and funeral services.

"I'd like to thank all the supporters who committed to this project; a project that will directly impact military veterans and their families in perpetuity."

The project, funded by donors and grants, took six years from conception, design, fundraising and approval from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
