Monster Love: Married Racers Bring Competition To CA
Meet Neil Elliot and Candice Jolly, the Monster Jam couple, who will compete in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- It might sound like a typical love story: Neil Elliot and Candice Jolly fell in love more than 10 years ago after meeting in Finland. But the now married couple is not your average love story.
Elliot and Jolly are competitive racers who met while competing in Monster Jam in Europe. Now, the couple is raising two children, one who hopes to join Monster Jam someday, while racing in the motorsports event worldwide.
The action-packed event with 12,000 pound trucks will drive into Petco Park this weekend.

Jolly, whose parents were both competitive racers, began driving race cars when she was just 8 years old. She joined Monster Jam in 2007, the same year she met Elliot, who has been competing since 2001.
“We just started hanging out,” Elliot said. “We were enjoying each other’s company (in Finland) and it grew from there.”

But is isn’t all lovey dovey on the racetrack for Elliot and Jolly. Jolly said they are both competitive when they are forced to face off.
“It’s head to head competition all the way,” Jolly said.
“I’ll tell fans I’ll kick her butt,” Elliot jokingly said.
The strength of their marriage also helps in their careers as they help to motivate each other, they said.
“We’ll watch videos (of our races) together and we critique each other,” Elliot said. “It helps us both become better drivers.”
Elliot and Jolly will compete in Monster Jam in San Diego. The event takes place at Petco Park on Saturday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 3. Tickets start at $15. For more information, go to Tickets.com.
