JULIAN, CA — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck on state Route 79 in Julian, in rural northeastern San Diego County, authorities said Monday.

The crash was reported at 4:43 p.m. Sunday at 4541 state Route 79, according to the California Highway Patrol. That location is north of KQ Ranch Road, near the Pinezanita RV Park and Campgrounds.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The person's identity was not immediately released.

Traffic was stopped in both directions after the crash and Caltrans set up a hard closure at 4:59 p.m., the CHP reported. The roadway was reopened at 8:04 p.m.
