National City Police Officer Injured In Traffic Collision

NATIONAL CITY, CA — A police officer was involved in a traffic collision in National City Thursday, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 5 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of National City Boulevard when a pedestrian allegedly ran in the officer's path, prompting the officer to swerve out of the way into a parked car, an electrical box and a building, according to the National City Police Department.

The officer, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries.

Northbound National City Boulevard was temporarily closed after the accident.

The condition of the pedestrian and the amount of property damage were unclear.
