Here are three of the top stories in San Diego today:
- There is a new COVID-19💉booster in town! This new booster targets multiple strains of the virus, and it is now available in San Diego County. Persons receiving the new booster need to be fully vaccinated with the previous series. "These new boosters are safe and effective at protecting people against the omicron🦠variants, which are currently causing the majority of new infections in our region," said Cameron Kaiser, county deputy public health officer. "Supplies of the bivalent vaccine will initially be limited, so we ask anyone who is planning to get the new booster to be patient." To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. - Have a👶baby? If you do, you also have plenty of💩poop. Would you be willing to share a small sample of it for the benefit of science? A local bioscience company is recruiting parents of infants under eight weeks of age to donate their baby’s poop. The company, Persephone Biosciences, hopes to study the microbiome of healthy babies in order to create medicine for other babies. “We know there has been a substantial increase in the last two decades of food allergies,” Persephone CEO Stephanie Culler said. “A lot of that can be coming from the microbiome.” Parents wishing to donate can contact gotbabypoop.com. - It's Beaglemania! More than 100 rescue beagles🐕🐕🐕have arrived here in San Diego. Now, they are ready to move on to their ‘furever’ homes, maybe with you! The demand for these beagles has been high, so if you wish to adopt one of these adorable fur babies, you should apply right away. Complete and submit the Adopter Interest Form by 11:59 p.m. Thursday. “As beagles become available, San Diego Humane Society will use a random selection process to contact people from the pool of interested adopters,” SDHS said on its website. “Additional names will be selected as more beagles become available.” Apply for your beagle today.
