- Beginning Jan. 1, eight traffic safety-related laws will take effect. The new state laws concern speeding, side shows, catalytic converter theft, and other infractions. Training programs for e-bike safety will also be implemented. Three of the new laws were passed in the Senate, while five were passed in the Assembly. Find out how these new laws may affect you. - Title 42 has been kept in place by the Supreme Court. As a result, asylum-seekers are being turned away at the border. Meanwhile, according to County Supervisor Jim Desmond, over a thousand migrants have been taken from the border and dropped off at transit hubs around San Diego. Many think the practice is inhumane and should be stopped. (NBC San Diego)
- With rain in the forecast this weekend, residents have an opportunity to collect rain runoff from roofs and reuse it in gardens. It’s a way of helping the environment by recapturing and reusing our much-needed resource — water. The Solana Center for Environmental Innovation sells rain barrels to the community in a 50-gallon size at the cost of $95. Rebates are available. Take advantage and save water today. (KPBS)
