- There are 465 people hospitalized with COVID-19 here in San Diego. Now, San Diego residents can get a new vaccine, Novavax, to protect against the latest variant. The vaccine will be available at pharmacies, healthcare providers, community clinics and at community events. Novavax is a two-dose vaccine that works differently than previous vaccines. - Concerned about Monkeypox? Now you can receive information via the county’s text message alert system. If you wish to sign up, you can text COSD MONKEYPOX at 468-311. - For the first time, the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2022 is being held here in San Diego at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, July 31 – Aug. 4. The purpose is to share research and discoveries in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. “The researchers are looking into a variety of different angles. They’re looking at risk reduction, early diagnosis, and new treatments – and to keep up to date, you can see results in the news, or download our science help app, or our website, alz.org, where you can find further information on all of these stories,” said Dr. Claire Sexton, Senior Director of Scientific Programs and Outreach at the Alzheimer's Association.
