  1. “Insane.” “Look at this thing!” “Are you kidding me?” These phrases were uttered by passengers on the Privateer, who saw a 25-foot long massive whale🦈shark off the coast of San Diego. The shark may have been amused by the onlookers watching it as it swam around the boat. The passengers certainly loved it. The moment was captured by Captain Bryan McGrory, who steers the ship for San Diego Whale Watch. “[This is] extremely rare,” said McGrory. “I’m thinking it’s a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. 2. Before you venture out to the🌊beach this week, you should be aware that San Diego County has warned beachgoers to avoid the water due to contamination from storm runoff. “It can be trash that moves into the beaches, we see that in normal time, and those can carry various types of bacteria,” said Simone Fraid, who is part of Surfriders Foundation San Diego. The foundation advises that animal💩waste, fertilizers, pesticides, and bacteria foul the beaches in a concentrated mass before dispersing into the ocean. San Diego County department of environmental health advises that the beaches should be avoided for 72 hours after the rainfall. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. 3. It’s ‘Welcome Week’ in the City of San Diego. It's a time to welcome new refugees and migrants to our area. According to Mayor Todd Gloria: ‘San Diego is a welcoming city.’ If you wish to participate in the welcoming, you can pick up butterfly🦋templates at your local library. Color the butterfly and write your welcoming note for a newcomer. The butterflies will be distributed through community organizations throughout the City of San Diego.
