Metropolitan Transit System Trolley Lines
  1. Were you a rider on the Orange or Blue trolley lines here in San Diego between Jun. 31 – Dec. 31, 2022 ? If so, you may have been exposed to riders with active tuberculosis (TB). Symptoms include persistent cough, fever, night sweats and unexplained weight loss. Blood and skin tests can determine if you are infected. More information is available at TB Control Program at 619-692-8621. (Times of San Diego)
  2. Police response times more than doubled in five SDPD districts between 2018 and 2022. Why? Some point to understaffing. The department now has the lowest available sworn staff in over 15 years. While high level crime responses are maintained, response times for priorities 1, 2, and 3, including child abuse, bomb threats and lower-level reports like noise complaints are way up. The SDPD’s goal is to transfer administrated tasks to civilians, to reallocate resources, and to direct behavioral health emergencies to mental health professionals. (Patch)
  3. The Office of Business and Economic Development awarded almost $900,000 to San Diego for cannabis entrepreneurship equity. The goal is to support residents seeking to enter the legal cannabis industry in the city. The grants will cover permitting and licensing fees, education and training, and property rental assistance for industries that support local cannabis businesses — such as finance, marketing, advertising and legal services. 4. Do something fun today! Take a guided bird walk, enjoy a Mardi Gras at SeaWorld, or have an immersive experience at the Beyond King Tut exhibit. Take a San Diego Bay bike tour, cuddle up with a canine at Canines, Cats & Coffee, or take a Family Discovery Walk at the Kumeyaay Lake Campground. Later, see The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci at the Old Globe Theatre, enjoy the 33rd annual San Diego International Jewish Film Festival at the David and Dorothea Garfield Theatre, or LOL at Saturday Night Comedy at Bolt Brewing.
