- After a lovely weekend, San Diego faces a Pacific Storm due to arrive this week. The storm originated in the Gulf of Alaska and is moving south. Chance of rain is 20% today, 86% Tuesday, and 23% on Wednesday. While some areas of San Diego will not get rain, others such as Julian will get up to 3.7 inches of rain. Snow is possible in the mountains. The storm will leave behind fair, dry, and cool weather for our area. While rain is always good news in San Diego, this storm will not bring enough rain to take us out of our drought. (NBC San Diego)
- Is it just greed? San Diegans face higher prices at the grocery store, at the gas pump, and at fast food restaurants, among other places. Yet, the price of food, gas, and fast food have contributed to soaring profits here. Kroeger reported earnings of $732 million, up a whopping 43%. Albertsons reported earnings of $342 million, up 14%. McDonald’s and Chipotle have raised their prices. Oil companies have also done very well, with BP announcing $8.2 billions in profit, Shell reported $9.5 billion, and Exxon reported $20 billion. It should be noted that wages have stayed the same here in San Diego. (NBC San Diego)
- Pending home sales have dropped 49 percent in October, year-over-year. Rising mortgage rates have slowed the market here in San Diego. This rise in rates has resulted in higher monthly payments that have left some families shut out of the market. However, according to the real estate company Refin, homes here in San Diego are still selling faster than in other areas, with homes sold in approximately 26.5 days, down from 27.7 days.
