Pedestrian Killed While In Marked Crosswalk

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 72-year-old man was killed while walking in a marked crosswalk after a 76-year-old woman who said she had the green light struck the man while she drove on Clairemont Drive in the Torrey Pines neighborhood, the San Diego Police Department said Thursday in a statement.

The collision happened at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, the SDPD statement said.

The driver said the pedestrian stepped out in front of her vehicle and she struck him, the statement said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

SDPD Traffic Division officers were investigating the collision.
