Good morning, everyone! I'm here with your Tuesday edition of the San Diego Daily. Sip that coffee/tea, chomp on the bear claw, and read on for what's happening in town today:

  1. According to the National Weather Service, "a relentless parade of cyclones" will pound the West Coast. Heavy rain is coming to San Diego today, with lightning possible. Rivers may flood. Mudslide activity is expected in mountains and canyons. Strong winds may pull down trees, and there may be power outages. Flight delays and cancellations are likely. Residents are urged to prepare emergency kits and to have evacuation plans in place. (Patch)
  2. On Thursday, Jan. 26, the Regional Task Force on Homelessness will conduct its Point in Time Count throughout the county. It is a federally mandated count to obtain information on the number of unhoused people in the area. The results are used to distribute federal funding where needed. Last year, the count gathered 1,400 volunteers. For further information, visit rtfhsd.org.   3. Twenty-one San Diego elementary schools are among the 350 schools selected for the 2023 California Distinguished Schools Program, which recognizes schools for excellence in closing the achievement gap and achieving exceptional student performance.   4. The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating a suspicious fire that broke out in the parking lot of Pacific Beach Fire Station 21 on Mission Boulevard. According to SDFD, several personal vehicles belonging to firefighters were damaged in the fire. Lifeguard equipment and an ATV were also destroyed. The strike team is investigating the case.
