  1. It is an unusual sight. Driving through areas of San Diego, you may see sheep and goats munching on the tall grass on a hillside, or a meadow. It’s called a ‘pop-up-pasture.’ Brought to the land by Good Shepherd’s Regenerative Land Management, the sheep and goats clear the land to prevent fires. The company brings the 'pop-up-pasture' to both private and public land areas. Maybe they can help protect your land, too. To learn more: Click into Parenthesis, then click the link. (NBC San Diego)
  2. A shipment of 7.5 tons of illicit drugs were seized off the coasts of Central and South America by the Coast Guard. "At-sea interdictions of pure cocaine are the most effective way to limit cartels' destabilizing effects throughout the Western hemisphere," said Vice Admiral Michael McAllister, commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area. The drugs would have been worth $223 million. To learn more: Click into Parenthesis, then click the link. (Patch)
  3. Never was the digital divide more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Older adults who could use the internet were much better off than those who could not. “And the pandemic was just dragging on and on and on. And it became very difficult to do the basic daily tasks,” said Simona Valanciute, president of San Diego Oasis, which helps seniors stay engaged in healthy activities. San Diego Oasis provided computer tablets to clients and created online versions of their classes. They also provided training. “Human to human connection is diminishing over time. But the good news is … seniors are smart people. With the right support and the right rhythm to the learning, they will be life-long technology users,” Valanciute said.
