  1. SDG&E charges the highest rates in the state. What if the City of San Diego bought out its contract with SDG&E and provided🔌power directly to the public? Would it be cheaper in the long run? That is what the City would like to find out. The City Council’s Environmental Committee approved a $3M contract with NewGen Strategies & Solutions LLC to study the situation. The full City council must pass the contract with NewGen before the study can begin. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Voice of San Diego)
  2. After the long, scorching summer we've just experienced here in San Diego, it's hard to believe that the fall weather will soon bring cooler temperatures and flu🤒season to our area. On Friday, the San Diego County public health officials reminded residents to get their annual flu shot by the end of October. Also, health officials are advising the public to get vaccinated against🦠COVID-19. For children, the flu vaccine, Flucelvax Quadrivalent (ccIIV4), now may be administered to those 6 months and older. “COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are our best protection against the virus. and I encourage anyone who is eligible for a booster to get one,” said Dr. Wilma J. Wooten, county public health officer. “While COVID-19 numbers are currently trending down, the virus remains active and infectious in our community, and we anticipate more cases in the coming months as people move activities indoors.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. 3. Have long hair and want to donate it to a worthy cause? The 8th Annual Mane Campaign is offering free💇‍♀️cuts and hairstyles to those willing to donate eight or more inches to help those battling cancer. The donated human hair will be made into human hair wigs by Hair We Share and will be given free of charge to cancer warriors. Donors will be given a fresh new hairstyle for fall. The event will take place in October at Spa Pechanga at the resort casino. Find out how to donate. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Times of San Diego)
  4. It merges Latin💃rhythms and🩰ballet. It is called ‘Signature Moves,’ and it is the season opener at the San Diego Ballet. The performance begins at 8 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Southwest College Performing Arts Center. “San Diego Ballet is committed to the presentation of work that speaks to our Southern California audiences. This show is just one of the ways we do this,” Velasco said. He described the pieces as being “set to Latin music in a way that celebrates both the music and the dance equally.” Tickets start at $15.
