SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a warming trend later this week, according to the National Weather Service.

"Onshore flow and a persistent marine layer depth in place will keep temperatures below normal through mid-week," NWS Los Angeles forecasters wrote Monday. "Night through morning low clouds and fog with some drizzle at times will continue through Wednesday. A warming trend will take shape through the week with above normal temperatures developing inland for late week."

In other news, a high school student was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver; a large sewage spill prompted water closures at local beaches; three people were wounded, including the shooter, in a park; and five people were hospitalized in a salmonella outbreak linked to a restaurant.

Also, in a flurry of social media posts Sunday, President Donald Trump announced plans to reopen Alcatraz Prison and to impose a 100% tariff on movies made in other countries.
