SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego Humane Society was awarded a $75,000 grant from Petco Love in support of the nonprofit's "lifesaving work" for animals in San Diego County, the organization announced Tuesday.

"It takes a village to care for the 40,000 pets who come through our doors every year, so we are incredibly grateful for the generous support and partnership with Petco Love," said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society. "This lifesaving investment towards our general operations will help immensely, as we gear up for the busiest season of the year to provide a safety net for pets and the people who love them in our region."

Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $375 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts, according to the organization. The national nonprofit also helps find homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations across North America, including San Diego Humane Society.
