SAN DIEGO, CA — As college hoops take over March, San Diegans are invited to shoot their shot in San Diego Humane Society's March Meowness tournament.

The sixth annual photo contest invites pet lovers to enter their best pet photos into a bracket-style showdown that mirrors NCAA's March Madness.

Enter your pet's MVP-worthy photo through March 18 at sdhumane.org/contest. The top 32 vote-getters, plus 32 SDHS staff picks, advance to the first round of 64 — just like the big tournament.

Fans vote their favorite furry, feathered or scaly contenders through the brackets in each round, narrowing the field to the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four and Championship Matchup. The March Meowness Champion is crowned on April 8.

All contest entries and voting are free, with a limit of one vote per person per day. Contestants can rally their fanbase by sharing their entry link and drumming up support.

The first-place winner will get a $250 Visa gift card, according to the Humane Society. The second-place winner will receive a $200 gift card, the third- and fourth-place winners will each receive a $100 Visa gift card, and the fifth- through eighth-place winners will each receive a $50 Visa gift card. The first- through fourth-place winners will also receive Humane Society swag.
