SAN DIEGO, CA — A fishing cat from Denver has a new home in San Diego.

The San Diego Zoo recently welcomed Miso-Chi, an 8-year-old fishing cat, from the Denver Zoo.

Miso-Chi was born Jan. 25, 2017 at the Denver Zoo. The fishing cat was recommended to join the San Diego Zoo as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan Program, according to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, which operates the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

"Wildlife care staff shared that Miso-Chi quickly acclimated to his habitat and has been exploring everything the space has to offer," zoo officials said in a news release. "They described him as very confident and smart, and a quick learner who loves the water."

Miso-Chi likes to hide, so visitors may be able to spot him hiding in a hollow log behind a newly planted fern or surveying his space from the top of the Tiger Trail habitat.
