  1. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was passed in 1863, many Black people remained enslaved until years later. In 2021, President Biden signed a bill that created Juneteenth National Independence Day.   2. Beaches at the San Diego/Mexico border have been negatively affected by pollution from Tijuana. Now, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants the public’s opinion on a $630M plan to remedy the region’s cross border pollution. “The border communities share one watershed, and the solutions to reducing pollution in our shared environment require binational collaboration across all levels of government,” said EPA Pacific Southwest Regional Administrator Martha Guzman.   3. After a two-year absence due to COVID-19, the San Diego Greek Festival is back! Enjoy some delicious Greek food, beer, and pastries, while listening to live Greek music, and more. The festival will be held on Sunday, June 19, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. at Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. Bring the whole family for a day of fun!
