  1. The City of San Diego proposed budget is $4.89 billion for 2023. “Sales tax revenue has gone up a bunch as people are out there spending money. Tourism has not fully recovered, but it's rebounded quite a bit,” said San Diego City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera. “Those two things just give us more money in our coffers to work with.” Find out what the city wants to do with this money. 2. When they learned that some of their schoolmates were homeless, they wanted to help. The Titans football team at Poway High School joined together and collected daily necessities such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and so forth, without knowing their identities. “Kind of hurts a little bit, knowing that there are teens possibly my age or even younger who aren’t in a very stable situation right now,” said Maddox Ditalo, a senior receiver and defensive back. “That also motivated me to help out with this program and, honestly, I thought it was an act of God for me, not only from the school. But I thought God set down on me and said, ‘You need to help out. Do what you can.’” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (FOX 5 San Diego)
  3. City of San Diego pools will need to cut back hours and classes if lifeguards are not hired soon. "We need more lifeguards, we need about 100 more lifeguards across the board,” said City of San Diego Aquatics District Manager Nicole McNeil. "We will work with you, we will mentor you, we will teach you how to swim, we will prepare you to be in a lifeguard training course and work as a pool guard in maybe 3 to 6 months,” McNeil said.
