SD County Public Health Officials Report 1,036 New COVID Cases, 5 Deaths

San Diego County reported another 1,036 new COVID-19 cases Monday, while also noting five more deaths from the disease.

According to the county Health and Human Services Agency, another 474 infections were recorded Saturday, 331 on Sunday and 231 on Monday.
The new cases gave the county a total of 917,054 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. The deaths increased the county’s virus-related death toll to 5,479.

The number of people hospitalized with a coronavirus infection in San Diego County decreased by 14 to 221, according to the latest state data.
Meanwhile, new COVID-19 boosters that target multiple strains of the virus are now available in San Diego County, public health officials announced.
More than 3 million or 90% of San Diegans age 6 months and older are at least partially vaccinated, while 2.67 million or 79.9% are fully vaccinated. A total of 1,446,706 or 59% of 2,425,587 eligible San Diegans have received a booster.
