  1. The COVID-19 milestone for San Diego County rises to the staggering number of 30,000 hospitalizations. "The unfortunate hospitalization milestone and bump in cases in the region and across the country are a reminder that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over," said Dr. Wilma J. Wooten, county public health officer. "San Diegans, especially those at higher risk for severe outcomes from an infection, should continue to utilize non-pharmaceutical interventions, like masking and staying away from sick people. Everyone should get vaccinated and boosted when they are eligible, protecting themselves and those around them." To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Patch)
  2. It is called MAKE. The Merging Agriculture, Kitchens, and Employment (MAKE) trains youths enrolled in its 8-week program to work in urban farms and cafes. The purpose is to offer paid training to refugee and immigrant girls and women. After graduating from the program, the girls will rotate as hostesses, food servers, beverage servers, and farm tour guides. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (KPBS)
  3. "You go to the gas station, you put gas in your car, and depending on the price of the gallon, you bring the receipt, and we will give you a combo based on the price of a tank of gas,” said Victor (owner). The combo includes three tacos, rice, and beans, whose price is normally $8 or $9. Why are the owners doing this? To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (NBC San Diego)
