- While gas prices soar to $5.74 a gallon, some San Diegans have found a more affordable way to travel. E-bikes and e-scooters have become popular around town and residents are loving it. According to the E-bike company “Lime’ there has been a 30 – 35% increase in ridership as San Diegans search for an efficient, economic, and convenient way to travel. “Bird,” another e-bike/scooter company released a statement to NBC San Diego “We are working around the clock in SD to meet demand and ensure our service continues to be ready when and where it is needed during this time.” Sounds like a better way to travel. - With the influx of Afghanistan refugees, San Diego women have come together to help the men, woman, and children who came to America to escape the Taliban. Organizations such as “Welcome Home” provide micro grants to pay for education and job training. They fill backpacks for children entering local schools. - People v. Preds has alleged that a San Diego County sheriff’s deputy is an online predator. The group, "People v. Preds" is dedicated to catching predators who contact children online for the purpose of having sex with them. Acting Sheriff Kelly Martinez said she holds herself and deputies to the highest standards, stating "actions such as these reflect poorly on the individual and every one of us."
