Here are the top stories in San Diego today:

  1. If you’ve experienced a medical emergency with your pet, you know that there are few veterinary clinics that offer 24-hour service in San Diego. Even if you find one, your wait may be 6-10 hours, or more. Now, AB 1237, the California Public Interest Veterinary Debt Relief Act has been enacted to help relieve the problem. (East County Magazine)
  2. The intense rain of several weeks ago has resulted in 16,000+ potholes posted on the Get-It-Done app. These troublesome holes are formed when water gets under asphalt and destabilizes the roadway, resulting in potholes on our roads. After the City declared all hands on deck, City crews filled 14,000 potholes since Jan. 1. For more information on the city’s efforts to repair roads, click here. (NBC 7 San Diego)
  3. Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation has been awarded state funding of $68 million to develop affordable multifamily housing in four communities, three of which will be built in San Diego County. The project will include Cuatro at City Heights, Union Tower in National City, and Serenade at 43rd. No dates were given for the completion of these projects. (FOX 5 San Diego)
  4. Celebrating Black History Month, the San Diego Community College District hosts Africa in Context. The exhibition at Mesa College’s Art Gallery displays 1,300 pieces from Africa, many of which were donated to the college. The show includes universal themes such as feminine power, ancestry, healing, and mourning. At the Student Gallery on the second floor, works of the Black Liberated Arts Collective are also available to view. The exhibition runs through February 23.
