- How will the open seat on the County Board of Supervisors be filled? Now with a 2-2 split on the board, the open seat will be filled either by an appointment or by a special election. From my notebook:

- Don't feed coyotes: "Our Project Wildlife team is making targeted efforts to capture and care for a coyote suffering from a severe case of mange in the University City area of San Diego, but their attempts are being hampered by community members putting out food for the animal. Our team has placed traps with food inside them in the area, but if the coyote is already full and fed, they are unlikely to enter the trap. While well-intended, feeding wildlife is never a good idea for many reasons, including the fact that human food is unhealthy for wild animals. Animals like coyotes have specialized diets, and they can become malnourished or die if fed the wrong food." (San Diego Humane Society via Facebook)
