POWAY, CA — Authorities issued a Silver Alert for an elderly man reported missing after he was last seen in Poway.

Tony Hoang, 81, was last seen at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday near Espola and Martincoit roads, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert on behalf of the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Hoang was described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 146 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red hat, black jacket and black pants.

Hoang is believed to be driving a 2017 gray Nissan Kicks SUV, with th California license plate number 8MQV617.

Anyone with information about Hoang's whereabouts was asked to call 911.

A Silver Alert is activated when an elderly, developmentally or cognitively-impaired person has gone missing and is determined to be at-risk, according to the CHP.
