Slime Kitchen Opens Second San Diego Area Location, Aims To Expand In SoCal

Slime Kitchen gives kids — and kids at heart — the chance to be a chef, chemist and creator all at once, according to the growing company.

CHULA VISTA, CA — Slime Kitchen has opened a second location in San Diego County, as the company aims to expand its kid-friendly, hands-on slime experience in Southern California.

The San Francisco-headquartered company, which specializes in crafting high-quality, non-toxic slimes that spark imagination, opened a new location in November in Chula Vista. The new store comes after Slime Kitchen made its San Diego debut in July in the Mission Valley Mall.

"From the moment we first opened our doors at Mission Valley Mall, the response has been incredible — we had lines out the door from day one," Kathy Ando, founder of Slime Kitchen, told Patch. "It was immediately clear that the San Diego community loves slime, and this enthusiasm made our decision to grow within the region an easy one."

The Chula Vista location opened Nov. 22 in Otay Ranch Town Center.

"Chula Vista stood out to us for several reasons: its strong family-oriented community, the enthusiasm and support we received from Otay Ranch Town Center, and its vibrant, fast-growing population," Ando said. "It truly felt like the perfect home for our next Slime Kitchen location."

Slime Kitchen is designed for all ages.

Slime Kitchen gives kids — and kids at heart — the chance to be a chef, chemist and creator all at once, according to the company. Each visit takes slime makers on an immersive journey as they select a base, blend scents, add color, and layer textures to create custom slimes.

"We've welcomed toddlers, teens, parents, and grandparents alike," Ando said. "There's something magical about creating slime — it brings out the kid in all of us! And while slime-making appeals to everyone, it has become especially popular for children's birthday parties, since parents love having a fun, hands-on activity that can easily accommodate big groups outside the home."

In addition to hosting interactive play time and birthday parties, the new location offers workshops for toddlers. The store will also soon offer workshops for adults.

"We've seen incredible enthusiasm for group activities, so we're continuing to grow our offerings to make Slime Kitchen a go-to destination for families of all ages," Ando said.

The new location marks the growing company's second San Diego area and eighth California store. There are currently 15 Slime Kitchen locations open, with a handful opening soon in Alabama, South Carolina and Northern California.

"We're actively exploring new opportunities to expand throughout Southern California," Ando said. "Stay tuned as we'll have more exciting updates soon."

Slime Kitchen Chula Vista is located in the Otay Ranch Town Center at 2015 Birch Road in Chula Vista. The store opens at 11 a.m. daily, with closing times varying. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended.
