Some San Diego Area Schools Closed Thursday Due To High Winds, Power Shutoffs

The schools will be closed due to high winds and potential power outage​s, according to the San Diego County Office of Education.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Some San Diego area schools will remain closed Thursday amid critical fire weather conditions.

The San Diego County Office of Education announced that schools in Julian Union Elementary School District, Julian Union High School District, Mountain Empire Unified School District and Warner Unified School District will be closed again Thursday due to high winds and potential power outages. Sullivan Middle School and Bonsall High School in Bonsall Unified School District will also be closed.

"The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts," the County Office of Education said in a statement.

A red flag warning was extended until 6 p.m. Friday for the county's mountains and valleys.
