Storm Forces School Closures In San Diego County

SAN DIEGO, CA — Some San Diego area schools were closing early Thursday amid winter storm conditions.

The San Diego County Office of Education announced that schools in Spencer Valley School District will close at noon due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.

"The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts," the County Office of Education said in a statement.

A flood watch will be in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for the county's coastal area, inland valleys and mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday for the coastal areas and valleys. A wind advisory will be in effect until 11 p.m. Thursday for the deserts.
