Student Stabs Fellow Student At Coronado Middle School
The stabbing happened during a class break in the school library, police said.
CORONADO, CA — A student stabbed another student Tuesday morning at a middle school in San Diego County, authorities said.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 10:20 a.m. at Coronado Middle School at 550 F Ave., according to the Coronado Police Department.
The stabbing happened during a class break in the school library, police said. A male and female student, both seventh graders, were arguing when the boy stabbed the girl twice with a pocket knife.

The girl was taken to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of her injuries, police said. The boy was in police custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
There was no active threat to students or staff, police said.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses to the attack, and officers conducted a security sweep of the campus "out of an abundance of caution."
"Due to the ages of the individuals involved, no further identifying information will be released at this time," police said on social media. "We thank the Coronado school community for their support and cooperation as the investigation continues."
