SAN DIEGO, CA — A passenger was killed in a suspected DUI crash over the weekend in San Diego, authorities said Wednesday.

The solo-vehicle crash happened at 10:36 p.m. Sunday when a 22-year-old woman was driving northbound on Interstate 805 to state Route 54, according to the California Highway Patrol. The white Tesla 3 veered off the road and collided with a guard rail.

The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the CHP said.

The name of the victim was withheld pending family notification. The name of the driver wasn't released.

The collision remained under investigation.
