U.S. Postal Service Holding Job Fairs In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — The U.S. Postal Service is hoping to hire dozens of new employees in San Diego County.

The agency will hold two job fairs Thursday in an effort to fill about 75 positions, including letter carriers, automotive mechanics and motor vehicle operators, according to USPS spokesperson John Hyatt. Starting pay starts at $19.33 depending on the position.

"The positions will be filled at various offices throughout San Diego where needed," Hyatt told Patch.

The job fairs will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Midway Post Office at 2701 Midway Drive and the Mira Mesa Post Office at 9051 Mira Mesa Blvd. in San Diego.

Applicants must have a valid state driver's license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger. The driving must have taken place in the U.S. or its possessions or territories or in U.S. military installations worldwide.

To assist potential applicants, USPS personnel will be on-site to provide detailed information about the positions, answer questions, and help potential candidates through the application process. Applicants may bring their laptop, iPad or tablet with a hotspot to receive assistance in applying for postal employment.
