Victim Of Fatal La Mesa Stabbing ID'd

LA MESA, CA — Authorities Wednesday publicly identified a 25-year-old man who was fatally stabbed by an unidentified assailant two weeks ago in La Mesa.

Patrol officers responding to a 911 call found Essa Faraj of La Mesa mortally wounded on a driveway in the 7500 block of High Street shortly after midnight July 13, according to police. Faraj died at the scene.

"Investigators believe Mr. Faraj was walking in the area shortly before the (assault), but his specific path of travel remains under investigation," Lt. Katy Lynch said Wednesday.
"The identity of the (assailant) is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing."
