- It's a state-of-the-art, multi-ecosystem experience. It provides guests with a look at nature with high-tech interactive opportunities. It’s the Wildlife Explorers Basecamp at the San Diego Zoo. “Wildlife Explorers Basecamp speaks to the budding conservationist within us all and shows us the marvels of the natural world,” said Paul A. Baribault, president and chief executive officer of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. Basecamp is comprised of habitats that feature wildlife that live in these ecosystems: rainforest, wild woods, marsh meadows and desert dunes. - Ninety-six percent of the gasoline sold in California is controlled by the oil refiners. Yet, the public has no idea how much the refiners make. Senate Bill 1322 would change that. "California has been an ATM for oil refiners for too long," said Jamie Court, consumer activist, and president of Consumer Watchdog. "The pain at the pump is real. When truck drivers have to fill up at $5 to $7 a gallon, we all pay more for the goods they are carrying to stores." Court said consumers should know that the fossil fuel industry in California "isn't paying what they say they are paying" for oil and "it's time to pull the curtain back." - It’s called “Operation Shoulder Tap.” The goal is to raise awareness for underage drinking. Agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), along with law enforcement personnel, cited more than 170 individuals for furnishing alcohol to a minor. The penalty is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
