- Strays are coming into the San Diego Humane Society at the rate of 30 – 60 per day. Currently there are 1,000 dogs at the facility. The shelter is over capacity, and the overcrowding has resulted in outbreaks of distemper, a canine virus. The San Diego Humane Society is reaching out to the public to consider adopting or fostering a pet. (NBC San Diego)
- A 3-and-a-half-year-old boy named Cole was fascinated with trash day. He loved to roll the trash can out to the curb for pickup and waiting for his trash guy to come to take the trash away like clockwork. Over time Cole and City of San Diego truck driver, Dwayne Bullock, became fast friends. Each year since the pandemic began, the two have exchanged Christmas gifts. It is a special relationship based on kindness. (NBC San Diego)
- Feeding San Diego’s end of year campaign is in full force. The 501(c)(3) charity rescues surplus food supplies from local stores and bakeries, and provides that food to thousands of people facing food insecurity right here in our neighborhoods. Now, the Board of Feeding San Diego will match your contribution, dollar for dollar up to $317,000, through Dec. 31. Every $1 donated equals four nutritious meals. If you wish to donate, or if you need food, go to FeedingSanDiego.org. (KUSI)
