CALIFORNIA — The ultra-wealthy are on a real estate spending spree in California, with a new record for a single home purchase recently set. Billionaire venture capitalist Marc Andreessen is looking beyond Silicon Valley with a $177 million Malibu home purchase from another billionaire, Jeff Bezos.

That purchase broke the California record set just last year by Bezos, when he dropped $165 million on a Beverly Hills home. In 2019, $150 million was spent on the "Beverly Hillbillies" mansion.
