Bay Area News Anchor Steps Down After 32 Years

The Bay Area sent off one of its television mainstays last week, celebrating a tenure behind the anchor desk that began in 1991.

SAN FRANCISCO — Longtime KRON4 mainstay Pam Moore retired at the end of last month, putting a cap on a career spanning more than three decades serving the Bay Area. Moore, an anchor at KRO4 since 1991, closed out her run with a June 29 broadcast and shared a farewell message with her colleagues and viewers on social media.

"Through the tests of any job, I have had the opportunity to work in one place for more than three decades... and to try and serve the people of the Bay Area who are also part of my life," Moore wrote on Facebook. "I have been given the chance to grow, to be challenged, to look back on mistakes and times when I've fallen short, but still be allowed to be here to get better and to love and enjoy the people in our shared communities."

Ahead of her final broadcast last week, KRON4 leadership announced they would rename the studio "Pam Moore Studio 4," and San Francisco Mayor London Breed declared June 29 to be Pam Moore Day. Moore's coworkers took to social media to share tributes of their own.

"We want all who enter the KRON4 studio to be reminded of the journalistic principles that Pam has exemplified throughout her career and to be inspired by the legacy that is Pam Moore," said Josh Palesky, KRON4's news director.

According to The Mercury News, even having retired from the anchor desk, KRON4 plans to keep Moore reporting occasionally as a special contributor.
