SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should know that an earthquake rattled parts of the Bay Area, north of San Francisco on Monday morning, and a major delay is affecting BART commuters during the morning rush hour.
The first quake, which was recorded as a 4.1 magnitude earthquake, struck an area called The Geysers in northern Sonoma County at 7:08 a.m.

That quake was followed by a 2.8-magnitude temblor, recorded at 7:09 a.m., close to where the first quake erupted. The morning temblors were felt across the Bay Area, according to the USGS. Read more about that here.
In other news, a man was swept away in the ocean over the weekend at Garrapata State Park, where a father and his young daughter died in the water the week before. The man remained missing as of Sunday, with search efforts expected to resume on Monday.

Last week, Yuji Hu was attempting to rescue his 5-year-old daughter from the ocean after she was pulled out by waves estimated to be 15-20 feet high.
“We remind everyone that there is a current beach hazards warning in our area,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post Saturday night. “The public is asked to stay off rocks and back from the waters edge. Ocean waves are unpredictable and pose a safety hazard to the public.” Read about it here.
