Cool Temps, Family Rescued From Bay, Sunglasses Caper: NorCal In Brief

Took a break from the news over Memorial Day? Worry not: we've rounded up some of the stories you missed in NorCal during the long weekend.

SAN FRANCISCO — After the long holiday weekend, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed since Friday to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Northern California’s top stories: A cooler trend will linger in the Bay Area for a few more days, with a little more afternoon sun, but there is a little more warmth waiting in the wings,

"Temperatures continue to look to be on the below normal side over the next few days as continued troughing dampens any chance at warming up until the weekend," NWS Bay Area wrote Monday. "Stratus will continue to be present at coastal areas through the nights and early morning, before clearing later in the day."

Catching up on the weekend, the Coast Guard worked with police and fire crews to rescue a family of four after their kayaks capsized on Memorial Day, and thousands showed up for an illegal car show at Alameda Point. A man drowned near Livermore on Saturday, and police say a serial burglar targeted two businesses in San Mateo.

Plus, North Bay fire departments will be performing controlled burns along Highway 128, with a little smoke visible in the area through Wednesday.
