SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect a warming trend Monday and into Tuesday before rain showers and isolated thunderstorm chances return Tuesday and linger through midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
California has prepositioned firefighting resources across the state in anticipation of thunderstorms bringing heavy rain, dry lightning and gusty winds that could spark new wildfires, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced.

Plus, thousands of volunteers flocked to the California coast and waterways on Saturday to participate in the 41st annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. According to the California Coastal Commission, which leads the statewide effort, 19,987 volunteers picked up 178,296 pounds of trash and recyclables.
