When CHP officers contacted the suspect vehicle, they immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car. The driver said he was lost and had gotten on the wrong on-ramp after leaving the Temple nightclub. However, he denied consuming any alcohol.
When officers conducted field sobriety tests, the man had a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit of 0.08%, prosecutors said.
