Free Bluegrass Festival Coming To The Bay Area This Weekend: Here's What To Expect

The three-day event will take place at Golden Gate Park.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The fast-tempo sounds of banjos and fiddles will be coming to the Bay Area this weekend as part of a free festival highlighting bluegrass music.

Bluegrass became the soundtrack for settlers in the remote areas of the Southern United States during its early stages. People there often wrote songs about daily life as settlers, according to the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation.

The music blends sounds from several genres, including old-time country, gospel and the blues.
