Heat Advisory Issued As Weeklong Warming Trend Begins In The Bay Area
Forecasters expect things to start heating up Thursday, and temperatures could climb even higher after the weekend.
SAN FRANCISCO — A heat advisory will be in place for most inland communities in the Bay Area through Friday, and forecasters see a second blast of heat not far behind.
According to the National Weather Service, while the incoming heat wave should be a little less severe than the last, moderate to major heat-related risks will be possible at times over the next week, particularly in the communities covered under the heat advisory.

The heat advisory is set to expire at 11 p.m. Friday, and forecasters believe the weekend should provide some respite before temperatures ramp up again to kick off next week. More extreme heat could impact parts of the East Bay by Wednesday.

"High temperatures inland on Monday will jump 5 - 10 degrees from Sunday's highs, with Tuesday and Wednesday looking like the hottest days of the week," NWS Bay Area wrote in a Thursday briefing. "Another weak disturbance from open waters over the southeast Pacific arrives late Thursday/early Friday and should help to drop temperatures back down close to seasonal averages."

In the North Bay, forecasters see afternoon highs keeping to the 60s along the coast, while reaching the 90s to low triple digits deeper inland. On the Peninsula, residents can expect coastal highs in the 60s, and afternoon highs in the 70s and 80s along the Bay.
For the East Bay, forecasters expect highs in the 70s along the Bay, while climbing into the 90s and low triple digits further inland. Overnight temps could stay relatively warm across the interior, staying in the 60s or 70s.
In the South Bay, highs in the 90s are forecast for the Santa Clara Valley, with temperatures soaring as high as 105 degrees in the eastern Santa Clara Hills.
According to early forecasts, after the heat crests Wednesday, some long-awaited relief should arrive by the next evening to set up for a pleasant weekend in NorCal.
