SAN FRANCISCO — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California’s top stories: A very hot holiday weekend saw inland temperatures soar well into the 90s — with several spots cresting triple digits — but the influence of the marine layer kept the coasts considerably cooler, and the worst of the heat should be in the rear-view mirror.
"By the July 4th holiday, most of our daytime highs will be within a few degrees of normal," NWS Bay Area wrote Sunday. "The hottest places in the far interior could still see max temps get into the 90s (NE Napa County, far eastern East Bay, Southern half of San Benito & Monterey counties)...otherwise temperatures will be in the 60s to low 70s along the coast with 80s inland."

Forecasters noted the strengthening marine layer could interfere with some fireworks show viewing in communities closer to the coast.
