San Francisco Standoff Suspect Shoots Self; Shelter-In-Place Order Lifted
The medical examiner's office has indicated that it responded to a death related to the shooting.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —A shooting suspect involved in a nearly 15-hour standoff with police in San Francisco's Corona Heights neighborhood today shot himself in the chest before surrendering and is in critical condition, according to police.
The standoff with a male suspect occurred after a shooting was reported around 11:45 p.m. Sunday in the area of 15th and Beaver streets, according to police.
Officers found a woman at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and she was taken to a hospital.

Officers made contact with a suspect who they believed to be armed, but he refused to leave his home, leading to a lengthy standoff with police.
Residents in the area of 15th Street between Castro Street and Buena Vista Terrace were ordered to shelter in place during the lengthy incident, and an evacuation center was set up at the nearby McKinley Elementary School to provide food, water and shelter for those kept out of their homes.
