Intuit, maker of TurboTax, is providing a precedent of not giving a f*** about compensating victims

Technology giant, Intuit, maker of TurboTax, is providing a precedent of not giving a f*** about compensating victims

Ranked repeatedly as one of the World’s Most Admired Software Companies by Fortune, Intuit has been a global technology platform said to help “customers and communities overcome their most important financial challenges,” according to their LinkedIn. Grace Akinlemibola appeared to have been one of many who admired the technology giant. Grace Akinlemibola was performing on a contract Baker Tilly had with Intuit’s TurboTax when she was labeled by Intuit to be a “fraud” with “fraudulent licenses.” She was fired from her contract with Baker Tilly and immediately attempted to figure a way out with Intuit’s CEO, Sasan Goodarzi. After months of Intuit’s CEO ignoring her, she filed a complaint in court and is now seeking over $1,500,000 (one million, five-hundred thousand dollars).

Since filing her initial lawsuit against the Fortune 500 company, Akinlemibola has attempted to negotiate this case out of court. She has offered the tech company a settlement offer on four separate occasions — three via written email (attached in the links below) and one orally during a conference call. Each time, the tech giant has rejected her offerings and even allows for snide commentary in court documents according to the affidavit she filed in court on August 30th.

It’s slightly comical. Akinlemibola starts off sweetly with an email prodding negotiation and telling Intuit how she is a “major fan” of their company and wants to maintain a relationship with them. However, it appears the megacorporation has no time for reconciliation. In her affidavit also linked below, Akinlemibola accuses Intuit of “mak[ing] a mockery of [her] case at every opportunity.” It appears the tech giant has no desire to want to “clean up their mess” with her. In fact, Akinlemibola goes so far in her affidavit as to say, “[i]t’s not enough for me to just simply be right. Intuit wants to mock me by saying, ‘but being right is not enough. You have to be able to win the case in court!”
